Introduction:

In 2020, I was given the opportunity to work on an exciting project with Wilder Whiskey, a daring whiskey-seltzer canned beverage brand. The aim was to encapsulate the essence of their product, highlighting both the boldness of whiskey and the refreshing attributes of seltzer, in a way that would result in an unforgettable brand debut.

Approach and Strategy:

The initial challenge was to find a harmonious blend between the inherently rustic charm of whiskey and the modern appeal of seltzer. This called for a deep dive into brainstorming sessions with the team at Wilder Whiskey, mapping out the brand's core values and targeted audience.

Logo and Branding:

The logo had to be an amalgamation of the brand's unique product proposition and its personality. With the dynamic balance of whiskey and seltzer in mind, I developed a logo using robust, dynamic fonts, invoking the boldness of whiskey, paired with sleek, flowing lines, suggestive of the effervescence of seltzer.
For the overall branding, we aimed for an intriguing and mysterious aesthetic that would capture the attention of potential consumers. Vibrant colors, reflective of the freshness of each flavor, were chosen to complement the more monochromatic logo and provide contrast.

Packaging Design:

The task at hand was to ensure the packaging design communicated the essence of the product in a visually appealing manner. We designed the cans with the same bold font and dynamic design elements as the logo, ensuring brand consistency. The cans featured the flavor's respective color palette. This created an adventurous and cohesive brand identity, shirking off the stuffy, bland branding that might come with a traditional whiskey.

Branding Strategy:

The strategy behind the branding was to position Wilder Whiskey as a daring, refreshing, and unique beverage option in the canned beverage market while breaking through the noise surrounding seltzer beverages. The brand messaging focused on the fusion of bold whiskey and revitalizing seltzer, offering a unique experience for the consumers. This was portrayed through the striking branding materials and the audacious visual identity that was consistently maintained across all brand touchpoints.

Conclusion:

The launch of Wilder Whiskey was met with enthusiasm and interest, attributed largely to the distinctive and daring branding. The branding strategy successfully captured the essence of Wilder Whiskey, ensuring the brand made a memorable entry in the competitive beverage market.
