Designing a Mini Wallet Micro-Interaction

Exploring calm and non-intrusive reward animation with Rive.

A few months ago, I worked on a small micro‑interaction for the Daily Mantra app.
We were introducing Punyamudra, an in‑app coin system where users could earn coins while listening to or chanting mantras.

The challenge was simple:

“How do we reward users without interrupting their listening experience?”

The app experience was already immersive and content-heavy, so using loud pop-ups or full-screen celebrations did not feel right.
Instead, I designed a subtle Mini Wallet interaction on the top right corner of the screen.
Whenever a user earns coins:
The wallet softly expands
Delightful animations appear
The coin balance updates dynamically
Everything settles back quietly
The idea was to make the reward feel satisfying but not distracting. I built the interaction in Rive, using Data Binding.
One of the biggest advantages of using Rive was that it gave me much more control over the final interaction as a designer.
Instead of handing off static motion specs and relying completely on the dev team for implementation, I could directly define animation states, transitions, and dynamic value updates inside the file itself.
This made the interaction feel much closer to the original design intent while also speeding up iteration during development.
Here’s a look at the setup:

This was also my first dynamic animation using data binding to actually go live in production, which made the project even more exciting for me.
It was a fun little experiment in balancing motion, feedback, and restraint, while making sure the interaction still felt calm and natural inside the experience.
