This poster started as a throwaway sketch during downtime at work and turned into one of my boldest passion projects yet—a tribute to Shohei Ohtani. I pulled inspiration from concert posters, chaotic typography, and my own emotional burnout at the time, channeling that into something vibrant and cathartic.
The design blends custom type, expressive layout, and illustration with a fan-art energy that’s loud, personal, and unapologetically me. The creative process included moodboarding, sketching, and iterating until the vibe hit just right.
Would love to collaborate on similar poster work—especially in sports, merch, or anything tied to fandom culture and storytelling through design.
The final version of the poster: completed with 3 baseballs (3 strike rule), Japanese typography ("Ohtani Shohei written in Japanese), Ohtani's head and expression after hitting one of many home runs, and a hand drawn looking font to enhance the feeling of scribbling in a notebook.

Inspirational typography and imagery poster
Inspirational poster showcasing the combination of rough / hand-drawn element into a digital space.
Photography of baseball player Shohei Ohtani, which was used in the final version of the poster
Using a combination of elements (Ohtani's head from the photo, my explosion sketch, and japanese type), I was able to come up with the main visuals for my poster. I placed the final visuals on a white, loose-leaf background to make it feel more like something a student would draw and carry around in his backpack for inspiration.
Close up of my hand-drawn explosion doodle used in the final poster. What started out as a "throw away" sketch ended up becoming both a focal point and a launch pad to creating and incorporating my drawings into my final poster.
Another hand drawn sketch, this time of a baseball, the sport that makes Shohei Ohtani a household name. Created after the explosion sketch, it was both a space filler and a way to integrate part of the sport into the poster.
Bonus content: the final poster on a white crop top (CMYK version). As someone who loves graphic tees of her favorite characters and celebrities, I felt that this poster would be a perfect fit for such a shirt. Fun, vibrant, and quirky enough to get a compliment from fans and everyday people alike.
