The Problem

The SolarEdge North America team had a problem: The new product launch was going well — a bit too well, considering home solar installers were in such a rush to work with the new streamlined hardware that they forgot to follow the updated installation procedure.

The Solution: Enter Roscoe & Rutherford

I pitched a series of campaigns in the style of the classic Goofus and Gallant comics — contrasting one installer who made a common mistake (Roscoe) with a counterpart who stuck to the script (Rutherford).

The Strategy

First, I wrote original post copy for a few different scenarios depicting two key concepts:
How installation best practices were easy to follow
How following best practices helped installers realize more of the product's many benefits.
Example Post

Roscoe and Rutherford both love PV installs, but they show it in different ways. Roscoe is some kind of sadist. The more complex the project, the better. There are only so many jobs to go around — might as well let his crews get a few more hours. Rutherford separates personal from professional. He only has time for one SKU — installs and RMAs should be flings, not endless entanglements. The SolarEdge Single SKU Home Hub Inverter offers something for everyone. Roscoe can close more jobs (3.8, 5, 5.7, 6, 7.6, 9.6, 10, or 11.4 kW) with less lead time. Rutherford keeps business booming without inaccurate market forecasting or extra truck rolls. Don’t punish yourself like Roscoe. Get tips on completing every build with one box. One SKU. One Solution: https://okt.to/IBD3ae

The Execution

For each post, I wrote the post, created a script, and worked with the visual team to refine the imagery and comic copy. I created specific calls to action to lead readers to check out the official installation guidelines, helping minimize support inquiries and boost the rate of successful first-time installations.
The benefits of standardiziation using the new product. Look at that messy office.

The Result: Best Practices 💯

This campaign earned multiple impressions and likes. More importantly, it accomplished the mission: showing how to install and commission the product correctly by inserting actual product asset images into the comic-style posts.
