A personal-finance creator wanted an 8-minute video explaining “index-fund snowballing” to beginners—but their retention usually tanked after the first 90 seconds.
My Role & Process
Audience mining: scraped 25 top-ranking competitors to map questions, objections, and story beats.
Narrative architecture: front-loaded a “what-if” cold open, built a looping tension-release cadence (Problem → Promise → Proof → Payoff) every ~40 seconds, and embedded interactive “mini cliff-hangers.”
Data-driven language: swapped jargon for concrete dollar examples and echoic phrasing to prime recall.
Outcome
Average view duration: 6:02 → 7:11 (+18%).
Retention at 70 % mark: 42 % → 64 %.
Subscriber conversion: +310 subs in 48 h—3× the channel’s norm.
What this shows: I don’t just “write a script”; I engineer an experience that manipulates dopamine loops and keeps the algorithm happy.
Here is a script hook as an example:
What if I told you that putting away just $200 a month could make you a millionaire? You'd probably think I'm crazy, right? But here's what's wild—this isn't some get-rich-quick scheme or crypto nonsense.
