OVERVIEW

Protothon proposed three different project paths in 2020, and mine was "Make law enforcement go mobile." The objective was to prove fast prototyping and design thinking, and the main challenge was to do the whole UX and UI process in no more than 24 hours.

PROJECT BRIEF

The first step was to research the pains of target users, and the two I focused on were:
once an officer steps outside the vehicle, their equipment effectiveness drops significantly, and
they still rely on radio stations.

ROLE

Product designer, UX researcher, UI designer

PROCESS

Due to the 24-hour limitation, I decided to work on live tracking of incidents, accessing different sets of data, and issuing citations on the go. The main insight validated through secondary research was the importance of voice control — to mimic the radio stations but also to act quickly — which became the main way of interaction in the application. An additional key feature was many scanners to make manual input rare. The process was accompanied by storyboards as it was the most efficient way to plan the prototype in such a short time.
