As Lead DevOps Engineer, Benjamin was tasked with building a global presence for PolyScale.ai's latency-sensitive application across diverse cloud infrastructures.

Challenge

Deploy a latency-sensitive application across multiple cloud providers.
Quickly deploy additional Kubernetes clusters to meet customer demand and increase global presence.
Ensure secure control plane and observability capabilities.

Solution

Built the entire global platform for PolyScale's "Database CDN" edge services using custom Terraform (Infrastructure-as-Code) modules across AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean, Fly.io and other hyperscalers.
Responsible for 33 Kubernetes clusters comprised of EKS, GKE, and k3s for internal services, control plane, and edge computing, all managed by Terraform.
Implemented a secured control plane for publishing internal services and message queues accessible from untrusted networks.
Forked CoreDNS to implement a Geo-based latency routing plugin.
Created observability capabilities for deep performance analysis of each region using Prometheus and Grafana.

Result

Benjamin successfully deployed numerous PolyScale Points-of-Presence in every major continent, reducing latency and improving application performance. This enabled customers to bring their applications closer to the database, where every millisecond of latency matters. Benjamin demonstrated expertise in building and managing large-scale, cloud-agnostic infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes, which ultimately resulted in PolyScale's acquisition for $10m.
