When Toronto-based marketing agency Black Cat Visuals approached us at Lovedeev Design to create a bold, cinematic announcement for the arrival of the Cadillac Escalade IQ at Highland Cadillac, we knew we had to go all in.
Final VFX animation
Notes from development:
This project was a rare one - we actually had two whole weeks, instead of the usual 2-3 day rush. So, naturally, I went deep into simulations, clouds, and flares.
Cloud simulations are sooooooo slooooooooow
I spent the first week experimenting with Blender’s sim tools and Embergen FX, only to realize that while they look impressive, they can also be a massive headache. At one point, I had a pre-built animation - only to scrap it completely because it was just too much. 😅
Scrapped version
So, in my usual fashion, I took the remnants, reworked the camera, added some fresh details, and wrapped up something cleaner, sharper, and more impactful—in just one day.
This project was a great reminder: complexity isn’t always the answer. Simulations should enhance a scene, not weigh it down. And in the end, this video not only hit 15K organic views but even brought in preorders for the Escalade IQ.
