Web platform for genomics discovery.
The Problem
Researchers at Target Validations employes knowledge graphs describing interactions between genomics expressions and associations with diseases. While genes associated to highly researched diseases (like Cancer) are well known, identifying less known involved genes is an open question embracing different techniques.
The Solution
The approach was to pair knowledge graphs (a bipartite network) between genes and diseases and rapid prototype web platforms for pathway discovery.
Web platforms for Genomics discovery
The rationale was to develop a bipartite knowledge graph using target validation (EMBL-EBI) database, perform a statistical analyses and develop pathway discovery algorithms as functionality of API REST over graph databases.
Infographics was developed to inform the researcher about nodes’ properties while navigating.
UX included development of a novel interface to improve readability of dense graphs projected over a plane.
