Case Study: ImmersiVerne: A Jules Verne Immersive experience

Jules Verne is a foundational pillar of science fiction and a universal heritage of human imagination. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was the first book I read as a child, and adapting his literary universe into a 41-minute, 360º immersive film for ToDA Dubai was an act of profound artistic reverence combined with high-end technical execution.
As the Producer and Co-Narrative Architect (alongside experience creator Ramon Herrero and the digital artist Rosa Compte), I designed a complex cinematic structure. To make our script work in an innovative way, we engineered a 3-act narrative, each divided into three segments (one for each novel), flanked by a prologue and an epilogue. In each act, we transitioned between 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in 80 Days as if their timelines were unfolding simultaneously, infusing the immersive experience with a dynamic, highly recognizable cinematic language. To deepen the emotional connection, the story is narrated through the eyes of three secondary characters, offering a fresh psychological perspective on these timeless classics.
Deploying this monumental narrative across a 19-projector architectural array required a strictly controlled hybrid production pipeline. I prioritized uncompromising artisanal execution—including modeling a book-accurate 3D Nautilus, handcrafted digital illustration, and advanced DCC compositing. AI-assisted procedural generation was exclusively reserved for scaling the colossal environments required for extreme immersive resolutions—creating seamless patterns and massive background assets like clouds, mountains, and underwater landscapes, which were subsequently heavily retouched and integrated by hand.

The project stood out for introducing unprecedented narrative depth to the immersive exhibition market, proving that massive visual scale can perfectly coexist with rigorous, character-driven storytelling. The film ran throughout December 2024 and January 2025 at ToDA Dubai.
