Project Overview Client Name: Isaiah Ragsdale Company: LockedIn HQ LLC Industry: Sports Technology / NIL (Name, Image, Likeness)
Objective: To architect and deploy a centralized, highly scalable ecosystem that connects athletes and brands through distinct, purpose-built web portals (App, Ads, and Admin), all driven by a unified backend infrastructure. Scope: Full-stack architectural revamp, multi-subdomain infrastructure setup, secure API development, frontend deployment across four separate portals, and CI/CD pipeline implementation with strict SSH key management. Duration: 6-8 Weeks
The Challenge In the rapidly evolving NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) space, platforms must serve wildly different user bases simultaneously. LockedIn HQ required distinct digital environments: athletes needed a frictionless app to manage their profiles (app.lockedinhq.org), brands needed a robust portal to manage campaigns (ads.lockedinhq.org), and the internal team required a secure administration dashboard.
The core challenge was preventing these separate portals from turning into fragmented data silos. The existing setup required a major architectural overhaul to ensure that all front-end applications could scale independently while communicating with a single source of truth, without compromising on deployment speed, security, or cross-origin data synchronization.
The Solution To solve this, I engineered a decoupled, hub-and-spoke architecture. I completely revamped the core backend to act as a centralized, secure API engine capable of handling complex relational data between athletes, campaigns, and internal operations.
On the frontend, I isolated the different user experiences by deploying them across specific subdomains (Landing Page, App, Ads, and Admin). This micro-frontend approach ensured that a heavy load on the athlete app would not impact the performance of the brand ads portal.
Finally, to guarantee seamless updates across the entire ecosystem, I orchestrated a secure CI/CD deployment pipeline. By meticulously managing SSH keys and server access, I enabled rapid, asynchronous deployments to any specific subdomain without risking downtime across the broader LockedIn platform. The entire revamped infrastructure was delivered from concept to production within an aggressive 8-week sprint.
Key Technologies Used
Frontend Architecture: React / Next.js (Deployed across distinct subdomains for modular scalability).
Backend & API: Node.js ecosystem (Centralized API hub managing relational data across all portals).
Infrastructure & DevOps: Custom CI/CD pipelines, secure SSH key management for zero-downtime deployments, and isolated staging/production environments.
Version Control: Git / GitHub (Strict branching strategies for multi-portal management).
Results & Impact
Zero-Blocker Scalability: By decoupling the athlete interface (app.) from the brand portal (ads.), we ensured that high traffic from a viral athlete campaign would never degrade the performance of the brand management or internal admin dashboards.
Accelerated Deployment Velocity: The implementation of a strict CI/CD pipeline and secure SSH management allowed the development team to push updates to individual subdomains asynchronously, drastically reducing deployment bottlenecks.
Centralized Data Integrity: The revamped backend API eliminated data silos, ensuring that when an athlete updated their profile on the App, the change was instantly and securely reflected in the Ads and Admin portals without complex data syncing workarounds.
Future-Proofed Foundation: LockedIn HQ transitioned from a fragmented codebase to an enterprise-grade, micro-frontend architecture, perfectly positioning them to scale operations, onboard major brands, and handle rapid user growth in the NIL ecosystem.
