Write a B2B cold email pitching a foldable sofa bed to retail partners. The email needed to open doors with furniture retailers and distributors who might carry the product.
What I Wrote
Subject Line: Short, specific, and benefit-driven. No clickbait. The subject line names the product category and hints at the margin opportunity so the recipient knows exactly what the email is about before opening.
Opening: One sentence establishing relevance. I referenced the recipient's store category and current product mix to show the email wasn't a mass blast.
Value Proposition: Three sentences covering the core pitch: the product fills a gap in the compact/multi-functional furniture category, it's priced for strong retail margins, and it's already selling well in direct-to-consumer channels.
Social Proof: A brief mention of existing sales volume and customer ratings to build credibility without overwhelming the email with data.
CTA: Clear and low-friction. Instead of asking for a purchase order, the CTA offers to send a product sample or schedule a 10-minute call. Lower commitment means higher response rates.
Why It Works
B2B cold emails fail when they're too long, too vague, or ask for too much too soon. This email is under 150 words, names a specific product, quantifies the opportunity, and asks for a small next step. That's the formula for getting replies.
