As a brand new Studio, Gigabel is working on creating a catalog of pieces that re-think latin heritage.

I love to dance Salsa. As a mexican, it was a milestone for me to have the opportunity to be named artist in residence in Colombia and create music inspired in their music. First thing I did, was to find someone who drove me to Cali and visit "Juanchito" the famous town devoted to salsa halls.

Prior to that, I was the drummer of a well known mexican band, 38400 voces. We won the Yamaha Music Quest and perorm in Tsumagoi, Japan. Our band was influenced by grunge, funk but specially by Ska, Reggae and Compa, since our singer was born in Haiti: Here we are at the palace of Sports in Mexico City!

I believe Mexico, during our golden age, was the home of some serious artists who gave us immortal danzones, boleros, rumbas, cumbias, cha cha's and even space age music from Esquivel. This repertoire is getting revisited by trap, hip hop and electro cumbia artists so it's an exciting time to be part of the revival of this heritage: Nortec, Lido Pimienta, Cumbia drive, Chicha Libre, Maldita Vecindad, Pérez Prado, Juan Luis Guerra or Juan García Esquivel among many many others...
