During the celebration of Shakespeare and Cervantes' birthdays, Mexico's National University hosts an anual festival, "El día del libro y de la rosa" the day of the book and the rose. People leave old books in benches, and strangers come and adopt them. If you give away a book, you recieve a rose; if you adopt a book, you make a commitment to read it and return next year with a giveaway book.
The National University commisioned a full hour composition inspired in Gerardo Deniz' work to be premiered at their multimedia theater in 2011.
Deconstructing Deniz is inspired in mashup and remix culture, where the poems dialoge with high and pop culture in a modern soundscape designed by composer and sound designer Alejandro Luis Castillo
