Introduction
McKenzie Valve is a leading provider of valve replacement services for tank cars used in the transportation of hazardous materials. With over 50 years of experience, they are known for their expertise and commitment to safety.
McKenzie Valve's existing website looked dated and did not accurately reflect their brand or convey the quality of their services. The site lacked important information about their offerings, was difficult to navigate, and did not work well on mobile devices. They needed a full redesign to modernize their online presence.
Research & Discovery
I started with a comprehensive discovery phase, interviewing stakeholders, analyzing the company's brand positioning, reviewing messaging from competitors, and studying analytics data on their existing site traffic patterns.
Information Architecture & Wireframes
Based on the research findings, I reorganized the site's content into a logical, user-friendly structure focused on McKenzie's core service areas. I created detailed wireframes to map out the navigation, page layouts, and UI components.
Visual Design & Branding
The visual design took McKenzie Valve's brand in a bold new direction with a modern, industrial aesthetic. The color palette featured striking shades of red and black accented by metallic tones. Typography utilized clean, legible typefaces suited for technical content.
Conclusion
This collaboration exemplifies the power of synergy in achieving digital success. By combining strategic design thinking with technical expertise, we were able to revitalize McKenzie Valve’s online presence and position them for continued growth in the competitive railroad industry.
