Smart MS3 transforms your physical therapy routine into an engaging video game.
Utilizing neural signals, the platform gives feedback to ensure you're performing the motions correctly.
The web, iOS, and Android apps, along with integration of the connected BLE device, were completed in just two months with a budget of less than $50k.
Now, with 21 large hospital contracts under their belt, the results speak for themselves.

Challenge

Smart MS3's founder desired a clinic-facing platform that empowers patients to safely push their limits for faster recovery. The app integrates seamlessly, saving time and hassle for physicians and patients, while offering added revenue for clinics via established CPT codes.

Design

Smart MS3 breaks the mold of the typical, sterile, white background health apps with its bold and daring visual identity. In contrast to other apps, Smart MS3's focus on physical therapy inspired me to embrace elements from 'dark and moody' styling of leading fitness apps, creating an elevated and engaging brand experience.
For Smart MS3, user experience was paramount. Recognizing that time is money in healthcare clinics, we created a seamless web form for patient intakes, allowing patients to complete it at home. This results in a streamlined physical therapy experience that starts immediately upon arrival at the hospital.

Coding

Crafting concise code is challenging, but it results in a simpler and more sustainable development environment. Despite this, the entire Smart MS3 app consists of only 1,000 lines of code, seamlessly handling all static data, bluetooth, and backend communication.

Deployment

Smart MS3 tracks and communicates data securely via HTTPS to an AWS-hosted API, while seamlessly storing all data into MongoDB. Since its initial release, the app has experienced minimal bug reports with no impact on users.
