Space Fest is an annual celebration of space exploration, science, and community, held in the heart of Downtown Brownsville. The event brings together families, STEM enthusiasts, and visitors for a dynamic experience featuring local food, artisan vendors, interactive STEM activities, expert talks, and live music. As the Brand & Marketing Coordinator at the Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau (BCVB), I led the rebranding of Space Fest, positioning it as one of the organization’s flagship annual campaigns. The objective was to modernize the event’s visual identity while maintaining its energetic, community-driven spirit.

Visual Identity Enhancement: Introduced bold, space-themed design elements while incorporating a more human-centric approach. One example is by showcasing children in playful astronaut costumes within a stylized collage aesthetic.

Color Palette & Tone: Developed a cohesive, vibrant color scheme that balanced scientific intrigue with fun, aligning with the event’s appeal to younger audiences.

Creative Inspiration: Drew from the previous branding’s urban graffiti influence, reinterpreting its lively essence into a fresh, distinctive identity.

The promotion for this campaign commenced early February, 2025. Given the tight deadline of having materials ready before the event date of May, 2025, we had to expedite the process. The campaign’s marketing and promotion were amplified through various means.

Multi-channel advertising (social media, TV, and local partnerships).

Print collateral (posters, flyers, street banners, stickers, apparel and more branded marketing materials).

Strategic community engagement to drive attendance: We focused on partnering with local organizations to help us with volunteers, and with extra equipment for the day of the event.

The success of this rebranding effort was made possible by the BCVB team’s collaborative spirit. Their insights and feedback were instrumental in refining the campaign’s direction, ultimately contributing to heightened visibility and engagement for this year's Space Fest.
