During my time at Barrage, I led the the Art Direction, Web Design, and Product Design for the Hive HPC project that specializes in GPU superpower.
The core inspiration behind the design was the concept of speed—specifically, the speed of light. I wanted to capture the essence of fast GPU speeds, which can process data at incredible rates, in a visually compelling way.
To bring this concept to life, I used light trails as a primary visual element. Light, traveling at unimaginable speeds, became a metaphor for the instantaneous data processing of GPUs. I explored how light curves and bends, often leaving a trace behind it, to symbolize the rapid flow of information. This allowed me to create a sense of movement and energy, which I then translated into thin outlines that cut through space like beams of light, giving the design a dynamic and futuristic look while still successfully maintaining professional and robust character of the product.Concept of Light
Additionally, I incorporated rectangular shapes and blocks with outline that mimic the structure of a hive, emphasizing the precision and technological sophistication of the project. These clean, sharp elements—representing the smallest building blocks—conveyed the idea of high-speed computation, where every movement and calculation is executed with pinpoint accuracy. The interplay of light and geometry not only communicated speed but also embodied the cutting-edge nature of the GPU technology behind the project.
