Vivout treats meeting new people as part of getting to know yourself. Instead of a swipe-match-chat loop, it leans on introductions, meetups and small networks, so a match always has somewhere real to go. We built it end to end for iPhone and iPad.
The Challenge
Big dating apps optimise for swiping, not meeting, and quickly feel like a numbers game.
The product had to hold introductions, meetups, networks and one-to-one connection in one place.
It still needed to feel light and welcoming within the first minute of opening it.
What We Built
Profiles built around who you want to meet and what you are into, surfacing nearby people open to the same.
Introductions, small meetups and joinable networks in place of an endless card stack.
A self-development thread that nudges people to try new things and meet outside their usual circle.
A short onboarding and friendly interface, then a full 1.2 redesign driven by real usage.
How We Did It
Discovery: mapped the social settings that give a match a next step.
Design: kept first-run friction to a minimum and tightened the flow after launch.
Build: one Flutter codebase for iPhone and iPad, Node.js for matching and social logic, Firebase for sign-in, realtime data and push.
Launch: shipped in three months, with the app collecting no user data of its own.
Outcome
A social app that points people towards meeting, not another feed to scroll.
Consistent experience across iPhone and iPad from a single codebase.
A backend that scales without a heavy ops burden.
