Honestly, if someone asks me about my Amal fellowship experience, I would state: “ It was a short journey but the learnings and positives which I can extract from this fellowship were immense”. My entire journey of fellowship resembles a cricket match, there were umpires, players and third umpire too. I mean Sir Hammad and Mam Hajra were umpires, batch fellows were spectators and my Amal circle members were the players. Out was deadlines and procrastination was third umpire.
One thing I loved the most about Amal is safer environment for everyone despite of culture, creed and eradicating social discrimination. During our first two weeks we got a project named, “ Amal kindness”. We had to write five random act of kindness. At the start I was like wondering why is the work load way too high and why they are asking us to do these things, but the satisfaction I got made me realize that this fellowship could change a person soo much. I never knew about SMART goals and why behind those goals, picturing my life map by reflecting on my past was fruitful.
I mean this fellowship made me more humble, patient and kind. Honestly, I could wait for things now, I can stand confident in public platforms, I am way more positive, I could walk with grace and I don’t look down on people. Through Sir Jawad and Jaqueline Novorgratz story I came to realize how to be humble, determined, consistent and positive. During this journey, the most important part that helped me learn a lot was Mega project. Amal helped us to think broadly to work for things which can be impactful in the society.
Amal has groomed me and I will make sure that I apply these learnings constantly throughout my life.
