LETTERS TO DARJEELING
This project is my visual journey through Darjeeling, captured through my own lens. Each photograph holds a moment I experienced—the streets, the hills, the everyday life of this beautiful town. Alongside the images, I’ve attached small notes, like pages from my personal journal, sharing the thoughts, feelings, and stories that each memory evokes.
Through these photos and letters, I want to invite you to see Darjeeling the way I did—not just as a place, but as a collection of moments I lived and cherished.
Oh, dear Darjeeling…
I remember the first moment I set foot here, the road stretching ahead, a lone rider passing by, and the hills unfolding in front of me. This photograph marks the beginning of my journey—both the landscape that welcomed me and the memories I was about to capture.
The river flowed gently, weaving through the mountains, and I felt an unusual calm settle over me. For a moment, time slowed, and all I could do was breathe and watch.
Dear Darjeeling, your streets carried the warmth of strangers and the silence of clouds, I found pieces of you in
every corner of Mall Road — quiet, familiar, timeless.
The group noticed me, glanced away like they were hiding, then bowed as if saying, “Capture us kindly.” I couldn’t help but chuckle.
I looked up at these towering trees and thought—oh, to be this tall, to see the world from above,
letting the sunlight and sky fill your eyes with wonder.
On our last day in Darjeeling, our driver took us to a small home he knew, where we could have breakfast. The house was tiny, with only a few people, and the only food they had to offer was a simple packet of Maggi. Yet, what they had in abundance was their kindness. Watching them share what little they had made me realize that no matter how different our lives are, no matter our backgrounds or positions, the kindness we carry defines us—and happiness is truly everywhere if we just take a moment to see it.
Even as everyone laughed and played around me, your animals stayed in their own world, calm and untouchable, reminding me that life follows its own rhythm.
As I pack my memories and close this chapter, I feel a quiet gratitude. Thank you dear Darjeeling for the roads, the hills, the laughter, the silence, and every little moment that made me feel alive. Until we meet again.

This project is a visual journal from my journey to Darjeeling — a collection of photographs and thoughts woven together like letters to a place that quietly stole my heart. Through my lens, I captured not just landscapes and streets, but fleeting emotions, small encounters, and the warmth of everyday life. Each image is accompanied by short journal entries — personal reflections that trace the calm, chaos, kindness, and simplicity I found along the way. From misty roads and quiet monasteries to shy smiles and gentle hills, every frame holds a story of connection — between people, places, and moments. This body of work is not about perfection, but about presence — a reminder that beauty often hides in stillness, laughter, and the unnoticed.
