WooCommerce to Shopify Migration & Custom Shopify Development

This project involved a complete end-to-end migration of an e-commerce store from WooCommerce to Shopify, along with advanced Shopify customizations to enhance user experience, automate operations, and support business growth.

The process began with a full backup and detailed analysis of the existing WooCommerce setup. I exported product, customer, and order data, then carefully imported and organized everything into the new Shopify store. I replicated the store’s key functionalities and ensured design consistency, with custom development to match the original store experience. Post-migration tasks included SEO checks, content cleanup, and testing to ensure everything ran smoothly before launch.

Beyond migration, I handled a wide range of Shopify-specific customizations. These included building a customer-facing interface to allow users to manage their prescription data within their accounts—a feature previously limited to the internal team via Recharge. I also implemented logic to automatically adjust the subscription billing cycle based on selected product quantity (e.g., 2-month or 3-month supply = 8/12-week billing).

Free shipping on trial products,

10% off the first subscription cycle,

and discount codes for existing customers via their Shopify accounts.

To protect trial offers, I added a custom check to prevent users (identified by phone number) from ordering free trial products more than once.

Setting up multi-language support for global reach,

Integrating with 3PL partner Satsaco for automated order fulfillment,

Enabling Shopify POS for retail capability,

Adding WhatsApp notifications to improve customer communication.

Also built front-end features such as a “Book an Appointment” section on product pages, a loyalty & referral program using recommended apps (Smile.io, LoyaltyLion, or Swell), and an email newsletter pop-up (Brevo).

Throughout, I collaborated closely with the team to identify suitable apps, recommend solutions, and provide ongoing consultation. This project not only elevated the client’s Shopify experience but also laid a strong technical foundation for future scalability.
