Caring by Design: How We Transformed Coponcho's Digital Presence

Belgium's informal caregivers needed a digital ally - we built one that's as warm and supportive as the organization itself.

When Coponcho, a non-profit partner of Solidaris, approached us for a website redesign, we immediately connected with their mission. They support "Mantelzorg" - Belgium's informal caregivers who provide unpaid care to loved ones who couldn't manage without their help. My colleague Niels Willems and I knew our design needed to reflect the organization's purpose: supporting these caregivers through activities, educational seminars, and specialized vacations.
We started by sitting down with the Coponcho team to truly understand their values and vision. This groundwork was crucial - we weren't just redesigning a website; we were crafting a digital extension of their supportive community. From rough wireframes to fully realized Figma designs, we transformed their modest style guide into a mature, cohesive system. The warm illustrations we chose weren't just decorative - they were strategic elements positioning Coponcho as an ally to caregivers who often put others' needs before their own.

"We built a digital experience that feels like someone's finally caring for them"
Through several iterations, Niels and I developed a design system that balances approachability with confidence. The components we created deliver information clearly while maintaining the friendly, supportive tone essential to Coponcho's identity. The result is a website that doesn't just inform visitors about available resources - it welcomes them into a space that acknowledges their challenges and celebrates their contributions. For people who spend their lives caring for others, we built a digital experience that feels like someone's finally caring for them.
