Interviews and Inspiration Analysis
Allison was making her online debut and we first needed to establish her voice, brand, and essence through understanding her target audience. We completed an inspiration analysis of other brands that were successful in her target industry. We completed interviews and tested visual elements, primarily the logo and the colors for the website.
The Goal
We identified that the target market needed access to the process of her work and that highlighting her specific photography style was key. The website would need to be responsive on desktop and mobile and feature a versatile user interface with easy navigation for users to quickly access information as they skim.

Live Website

Research

Research consisted of asking questions, and analyzing inspiration.
I identified the target user and conducted secondary research into their unique needs when it came to ranch photography.
I collaborated with the business owner to understand current and future goals and how the visual elements such as font, color and language contributed to her goals.

Takeaways

Initially, I did not ask enough questions to narrow down the correct target user. With new sessions, I was able to correct course and change the website copy to align with the correct group.
The initial color selected was identified to make the images on the website pop however when used across the website the color had too much weight and needed to be adjusted to a better contrast ratio.
