Favorite Sister is an upscale women's clothing boutique in Hudson, Ohio, built on a warm, personal approach: shopping there should feel like shopping with your favorite sister — someone who has your back, makes you laugh, and helps you find your next favorite piece.
Brief
The founders needed a complete brand identity launched in six weeks for the 2023 holiday season. The goal was a visual system that felt playful yet polished enough to sit alongside the boutique's luxury fashion inventory.
Process
Typography First: Explored three text-focused concepts to establish voice. The client chose an elegant serif with interlocking letters.
The Concept: Pivoted from complex star mythology to a clearer metaphor — stars as a navigation system, representing how a sister helps guide you through the world, and the way Favorite Sister guides its customers to their next favorite piece.
Refinement: Created a custom constellation motif and scaled the stars so they'd still read clearly at small sizes. The final system includes stacked and horizontal lockups, both with and without the accompanying stars — though even in the minimal version, two stars stay woven into the wordmark itself, tucked into the F and E's.
