pe.supply Design & Development: A Theme Marketplace

pe.supply — A full-stack premium theme marketplace

I designed, built, and shipped pe.supply — a premium website theme marketplace — entirely on my own: storefront, custom checkout, global payments, license activation, transactional email, and a self-hosted support desk. It's live and processing real payments.
Role: Founder & Full-Stack Developer (design, frontend, backend, payments, infrastructure) Timeline: 2026 · Solo build, live in production Type: Self-initiated SaaS / digital product marketplace
pe.supply is a storefront for premium website themes aimed at designers, studios, and founders who want a high-end site without starting from scratch. Rather than lean on an off-the-shelf marketplace platform (Gumroad, Envato, etc.) and hand over margin and control, I built the entire commerce stack myself — from the marketing site down to the webhook that unlocks a license after payment.
The goal was to prove I can take a product from an empty repo to a live, revenue-generating system that handles money, licensing, and customer support without gaps — the parts most "I built a landing page" projects quietly skip.

The Challenge

Selling digital products properly is deceptively hard. A polished storefront is the easy 20%. The hard 80% is everything that happens after someone clicks buy:
Charging customers globally while staying compliant with tax/VAT across dozens of countries
Routing each purchase to the correct product and price — securely, so prices can't be tampered with client-side
Delivering a license the buyer can actually activate on their own site, and revoking it if needed
Sending the right email at the right moment (welcome, receipt, license, announcements) reliably
Handling support requests without duct-taping a third-party helpdesk onto everything
I wanted to own this end to end — for control, for margin, and to actually understand the system I was running.

What I Built

Storefront & marketing site — A conversion-focused Webflow site with a cohesive brand system (typography, color, product pages), backed by a responsive React portal (app.pe.supply) where customers manage purchases and licenses.
Custom checkout with a Merchant of Record — Integrated Polar.sh as the MoR so global tax/VAT compliance is handled at the payment layer. Built per-product checkout routing that maps each theme to its correct product and price, with server-side price verification and an order_intents layer so nothing about the transaction can be spoofed from the client.
License activation system (v2) — A signed-token licensing scheme with a lightweight activation shim that installs into the customer's own site. Verified working across multiple live sites — activate, validate, and revoke.
Transactional & lifecycle email — Built on React Email + Resend: authentication, purchase receipts, license delivery, and segmented bulk announcements, with a clean separation between transactional and marketing consent and signed unsubscribe links.
Self-hosted support desk — Instead of bolting on a SaaS helpdesk, I built a support system directly on my own Supabase backend: a customer-facing panel and a staff panel, file attachments, internal notes, and automatic scrubbing of sensitive login info. Fully working end to end.
Production hardening — CAPTCHA on public forms, SSR fixes, analytics, payment-confirmation email deduplication, and a real deployment pipeline on Vercel with proper environment management.

Approach

I built deliberately, not just fast. A recurring principle in this project was questioning whether each piece of infrastructure was actually necessary before building it — at one point I removed an entire third-party support tool in favor of a leaner, self-owned solution that fit the real requirement. Every subsystem (checkout, licensing, email, support) was shipped as a self-contained, verifiable module and confirmed against live data before moving on.

Results

Live in production, processing real payments through a compliant Merchant of Record
A complete, self-owned commerce stack — no dependency on a marketplace platform taking a cut
Licensing verified across multiple live customer sites
A support system running entirely on infrastructure I own and can extend
Seven premium themes shipped through the platform, all migrated onto the v2 licensing system

Tech Stack

React · Supabase · Polar.sh (Merchant of Record) · Resend + React Email · Vercel · signed-token licensing · webhook-driven fulfillment
pe.supply is the kind of project I'm proud of because nothing about it is a mockup — it takes money, delivers licenses, and supports customers in production, all built and owned end to end. That's the same mindset I bring to client work: I don't stop at the interface. I build the parts that have to actually work when a real user hits buy.
If you're building a product, a storefront, or any system where design, frontend, and backend have to hold together under real usage — I'd love to help you ship it.
Let's talk.
