Minnesota Education Equity Partnership: WordPress Website Redes…

ShannaLee Horvik

Led by People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) thought leaders and experts, MnEEP uses a race equity lens to develop and advance networks, practices, research, and policies to dismantle racism in education and build a more just, equitable Minnesota.

Background

MnEEP’s previous website struggled to effectively showcase their work and mission. While visually vibrant, the home page lacked the dynamism and clarity needed to communicate their impact. General page templates were inflexible, making updates cumbersome and leaving no room for additional features like event promotions or membership calls to action.
Critical resources, like toolkits, were scattered across multiple sites with inconsistent designs, creating a fragmented user experience. The blog suffered from sorting challenges and restrictive templates that made it difficult for staff to assign authors accurately. Meanwhile, the research page was plagued by broken links and poor navigation, further diminishing accessibility and usability.
These issues collectively hindered MnEEP’s ability to engage their audience and achieve their goals effectively.
General pages on the site were not flexible, and were difficult to maintain. There was no space for additional modules, or calls to action to promote events or encourage membership.

Solution

The new MnEEP website is a dynamic, user-friendly platform designed for both staff and visitors. Built with a flexible theme and easy-to-edit modules, it simplifies maintenance and updates, ensuring staff can keep the site current with ease. Toolkits have been consolidated into the main site, streamlining access and enhancing the user experience. The blog now features stunning illustrations and improved functionality, making it effortless to search, sort, and add new content. Individual posts benefit from adaptable templates, allowing authorship and essential details to display correctly. The revamped research page is well-organized and simple to manage, eliminating issues like broken links.
Purrly Digital collaborated with the designer to create versatile modules based on mockups, empowering MnEEP to build engaging pages and toolkits with ease. Interactive graphics further enhance the site’s appeal, delivering a seamless and captivating experience for all users.
New pages and toolkits are a breeze for editors to build, using branded elements that can be mixed and matched to create engaging pages consistent with the rest of the site.
We continue to help MnEEP with our hosting management and maintenance package, and with content entry, toolkit building, or questions whenever needed.
The new blog features beautiful illustrations and is much easier to search, sort, and add new content. Individual post pages are built with flexible templates that make it easier to select the author and have the right information show up.
Purrly built flexible modules based on the original designs from MnEEP's website designer. These modules can be used in a number of different ways to build engaging pages.
Purrly helped bring in the toolkits and create a more easy-to-navigate experience for users. We also built engaging, interactive graphics using the files sent over by the designer.
