A self-initiated editing concept exploring how typography, overlays, cut screens, captions, and visual rhythm can work together to bring a story to life.
I had been wanting to explore this editing style for a while, and when it was time to create my offer announcement, I finally had the perfect opportunity to make it.
Rather than creating a simple talking-head announcement, I wanted to use the piece to explore a more layered, visual approach to storytelling.
The Execution
I used a combination of:
Typography
Used type as a visual storytelling element, not just for captions or information.
Visual Overlays
Added overlays to create depth and introduce visual moments that supported the story.
Cut Screens
Used cut screens to break up sections of the video and control the rhythm between ideas.
Captions
Designed captions to feel integrated into the visual language of the edit rather than simply sitting on top of the footage.
Visual Details
Added small details throughout the edit to make the piece feel more considered and cohesive.
Most importantly, every element was intentionally thought through while editing. The typography, overlays, captions, cut screens, and transitions were all there to support the story and the feeling I wanted the piece to have.
By the way, I'm taking on clients for long-term video editing support. yeahhh!!!!
