In early times and till now, a literate is considered to be someone who can read and write, but there is also what is called ‘creative writing’. To be a successful writer, you must show great dexterity in creative writing. Some people are talented in writing- such people do not have to rack their brain for them to write reasonably- they can write stories, articles, songs etc. without preparing. Talented writers have the potential of being a successful writer if they are dedicated to writing.

Perhaps, one is not talented in writing, there are creative writing courses which can be taken to improve one’s self. Anthropology is one among other courses which one can study in tertiary institutions. Online courses can also be taken to build oneself to being a professional writer.

Practice they say makes perfection: in whatsoever you do, without constant practice, you might not improve. This is not limited to writing. Keep writing! , they more you write the more you learn, the less errors you are likely to make.

You must have heard one or two persons mention someone who they refer to be their role model. Even kids too have role model. As a writer who wants to be successful, you should have a role model too. Your role model should be someone who has made huge success in his/her writing career or whose style of writing you love.

Readers are leaders- as a writer, you should cultivate the habit of extensive reading and make writing a hobby. When you read, you learn new things and even more than you might have known, you get inspirations of what to write and also see how other writers present their works. Extensive reading will improve your vocabulary.

Know the mind of your readers as this would go a long way in helping you grow as a writer. Write publications that will catch the interest of your readers; no reader will love to continue reading a piece if it has nothing of his/her interest. You must note that something that will catch the interest of an adult may not catch the interest of youth or children.

Furthermore, the remarks of your reading audience towards your piece of writing determines if you are already successful in your writing profession.
