Pizzeria Beštek | Custom Ordering Website & Admin Workflow

My role and the result

I built a custom ordering website and delivery workflow for Pizzeria Beštek, a family-run restaurant in Biograd na Moru, Croatia. The delivery included the customer-facing website, backend, order emails and staff response flow. The restaurant received the source code and the accounts needed to operate the system.

Client brief and scope

The client wanted to replace a third-party ordering platform with a system they could own and adapt. We agreed a fixed-price build with a defined scope and handover of the codebase, Supabase account, Netlify deployment and Resend account. I handled implementation across the interface, database and email integrations.
The core journey was straightforward: browse the menu, choose pickup or delivery, enter the required details and receive an order update. Croatian, English, German and Italian support covered both the customer interface and transactional emails, reflecting the restaurant’s mix of local and tourist customers.

The operational requirements

Staff needed to respond to orders while running the kitchen. The workflow therefore uses confirmation and decline actions in the order email, with a response sent back to the customer.
Language had to remain consistent throughout the order. Validation, email subjects, confirmation messages and decline reasons use the language selected by the customer.
Delivery coverage needed to be checked before an order was submitted. The address step validates against the restaurant’s service area and gives an inline explanation when delivery is unavailable.
Pickup times needed to reflect preparation time. The time picker uses an allowed preparation window so customers choose from suitable pickup slots.
The handover needed to give the restaurant control of the system. Source code, deployment and service accounts formed part of the agreed delivery; infrastructure costs remain separate from development.

What I implemented

Order and email coordination: Supabase Edge Functions create customer and staff notifications, process staff confirmation or decline actions, update order status and send the customer the result. A separate function handles contact-form messages.
Localised communication: four-language email templates use the order’s saved language and distinguish pickup from delivery, including relevant alternatives when an order is declined.
Address validation: delivery boundaries are checked as part of the customer journey, with an explanation for out-of-zone addresses before submission.
Pickup scheduling: a rolling preparation-time window limits the available pickup choices and keeps the ordering interface aligned with the kitchen workflow.
Backend and deployment: a Supabase Postgres database with row-level access rules, server-side order functions, separated client and server configuration, a Netlify website deployment and Resend email delivery.

Delivery and handover

The website launched in September 2025. The restaurant received a custom system for accepting direct pickup and delivery orders, handling staff responses and updating customers in their chosen language. The codebase and infrastructure accounts were handed over as agreed.
The implementation connects the customer interface with the restaurant’s day-to-day operations. Staff can act on an order from email, while the database and customer notification stay aligned. Maintenance and further features can be handled as separate, defined pieces of work.

What a client gets from working with me

For a similar project, you work directly with me to define the ordering journey, staff workflow and integrations before implementation. The agreed delivery can cover the interface, backend, deployment and a documented handover, with ongoing work scoped separately.
If you need a custom web application that fits how your business operates, message me on Contra with the workflow you want to improve. View the completed website through the project link.
