A lovely partner reached out to me for a custom illustration for him and his fiancé to celebrate their upcoming anniversary. This illustration was different since they were a long-distance couple that couldn't be together for their special day.
I was reached through my social media we started working right away! After talking for a bit, this is the sketch I came up with after he told me he wanted to reflect the fact that they were "far from each other, but near at heart".

The client loved this concept so we went with it! I started working and we agreed that mixed media was the way to go. The background was hand painted with gouache and colored pencils, while they were drawn digitally.
