CoachCord — Gaming Coaching, Built From Zero

CoachCord is a coaching platform for competitive Brawl Stars players. Pro players, casters, and coaches on one side. Players who want to hit Masters on the other. The idea was clear. The platform didn't exist yet.

The brief was the whole business

This wasn't a redesign. There was no old site to reference, no brand guidelines to follow, no Figma file to translate. The client had a concept and a Discord community. Everything else needed to be invented: the name's visual identity, the user flow, the trust signals, the conversion path from "curious visitor" to "booked session."
When there's nothing to inherit, every decision is a positioning decision. The color palette says something about who this platform is for. The layout says something about whether it's serious or casual. The typography says something about whether this is a hobby project or a real business. Every pixel had to answer those questions before a single coach profile went live.

Brand identity: built for competitive gaming without the visual clichés

Gaming brands default to neon, angular type, and aggressive energy. CoachCord needed to feel competitive without looking like a tournament overlay. The solution was a dark foundation with controlled purple and gold accents. Purple carries ambition. Gold carries achievement. The dark base keeps it grounded.
The logo, the icon system, the card layouts, the coach profile structure — all designed as a cohesive system, not a collection of one-off decisions. Every element follows the same visual rules so the platform reads as one product, not a patchwork of pages.

Development: React, Next.js, TypeScript

The entire platform is built on Next.js with TypeScript. Server-side rendering for performance and SEO. Component architecture designed for scale — every coach card, every booking flow, every section is a reusable module.
The site integrates directly with Calendly for session booking, removing friction from the conversion path. A visitor can go from landing on the homepage to booking a coaching session in under 60 seconds.
Key technical decisions:
Next.js for SSR, fast initial loads, and clean routing
TypeScript across the entire codebase for maintainability
Responsive-first build — the majority of the gaming audience browses on mobile
SEO-optimized metadata and Open Graph tags for social sharing
Calendly integration for zero-friction booking
Component-based architecture so the client can scale the coach roster without touching the codebase

The conversion architecture

The homepage follows a deliberate sequence: hook (the hero promise), believe (how it works in 4 steps), consider (browse real coaches with real credentials), act (book a session). Every section exists to move the visitor one step closer to the Calendly link.
The coach selection grid isn't decorative. Each card shows the coach's name, role, and photo — enough to build trust, not so much that the visitor gets lost comparing options. The CTA is always the same: book a session. One action, repeated at every decision point.

What it changes

CoachCord went from a Discord community with no web presence to a fully branded platform with a clear conversion funnel. The client has a professional foundation that positions coaching as a real service, not a side hustle. The coach roster is extensible. The booking flow is frictionless. The brand system holds whether there are 5 coaches or 50.

The takeaway

Most gaming platforms are over-designed and under-thought. The visual noise is high, the conversion logic is low. CoachCord is the opposite: restrained visuals, deliberate structure, and a single-minded focus on getting visitors into coaching sessions. The brand was built to earn trust in a market where trust is the entire product.
