The Challenge
Paper sheets get wet or lost, and typing notes up later rarely happens.
Beekeepers need consistent records to spot changes across weeks and seasons.
The app had to be usable one-handed, in gloves, with weak coverage around the yard.
What We Built
A guided, remote-configurable checklist that asks the right questions at the right time.
Readable reports that email well (free) or sit in a clean timeline of visits (premium).
Streamlined repeat inspections with carry-over context from the last check.
Large touch targets, plain language and short linear flows.
How We Did It
Build. Flutter for iOS and Android with identical behaviour in the field.
Backend. Firebase for sign-in and secure sync. MongoDB for flexible inspection records that match hive-to-hive variability.
Config. Checklist items refined without a full app release.
Outcome
Good records became part of the routine, not a separate chore.
Beginners and clubs share reports instantly. Growing apiaries compare visits and act sooner.
Healthier colonies through trends spotted in time.
