Project Overview

One More Try is an AI-assisted cinematic short film about self-doubt, perseverance, and finding the courage to begin again.

The film follows a young woman who feels overwhelmed by her circumstances and begins questioning whether her efforts will ever lead to something better. Through quiet moments of reflection, she makes a simple but meaningful decision: to try again.

Using AI-generated visuals, voice-over narration, background music, and cinematic editing, I transformed this idea into a short visual story about hope, resilience, and taking one small step at a time.

The goal was to create an emotionally relatable film that reminds viewers that they do not need to have their entire future figured out before taking the next step.

The Challenge

The creative challenge was to turn an emotional, everyday experience into a cinematic story that viewers could connect with.

The film needed to communicate feelings of exhaustion, uncertainty, and renewed hope without relying on excessive dialogue. It also required a consistent main character, a believable bedroom setting, a clear emotional progression, and a visual transition from cool nighttime tones to warm morning light.

Creative Concept and Storyline

The film follows a fictional 23-year-old Black African woman as she moves through a difficult moment of self-doubt.

Scene 1 — The Silence

Alone at her desk at night, she sits quietly in front of her laptop. The cool lighting and stillness establish the emotional weight of the moment.

Scene 2 — The Doubt

She closes her notebook, reflecting the frustration and uncertainty she feels about her progress.

Scene 3 — The Decision

After a quiet pause, she takes a breath and opens the notebook again. It is a small action, but it represents her willingness to keep going.

Scene 4 — One More Try

She returns to her work and begins taking practical steps toward her goals. The scene reinforces the idea that progress often starts with a small decision.

Scene 5 — A New Morning

As warm golden light fills the room, she completes a small task and shows a subtle, hopeful smile.

Scene 6 — The Final Step

She opens the curtains to reveal the sunrise outside, visually representing a fresh start and the possibilities that lie ahead.

My Creative Process

I approached this as a complete short-film project, taking the concept from initial planning through to final editing.

1. Story Development

I developed the central idea, emotional message, scene progression, and narration to give the film a clear beginning, middle, and ending.

2. AI Scene Creation

I used Google Flow to generate cinematic scenes, with prompts designed around the character's appearance, bedroom environment, lighting, camera composition, and emotional tone.

3. Voice-Over Production

I used TTSMaker to create the narration, helping communicate the story's emotional message and connect the scenes.

4. Video Editing

I assembled the generated clips in CapCut Desktop, arranged the scenes in sequence, and incorporated the narration, background music, opening title, and closing message.

5. Final Presentation

I refined the pacing and visual presentation, using cool nighttime tones and warm sunrise imagery to reinforce the story's emotional journey.

ChatGPT: Story development, creative planning, and AI prompt writing.

Google Flow: AI-generated cinematic video scenes.

TTSMaker: AI voice-over narration.

CapCut Desktop: Video editing, scene arrangement, audio integration, titles, and final export.

Creative Direction

The film uses a vertical 9:16 format suitable for mobile-first viewing and social media storytelling.

The visual direction combines cinematic realism, intimate compositions, soft lighting, and a gradual transition from cool blue nighttime lighting to warm golden morning light.

The narration and music support the emotional atmosphere while keeping the central message clear and relatable.

The Outcome

The result is a completed AI-assisted cinematic short film that transforms a simple, relatable idea into a visual story.

This project allowed me to explore AI-assisted storytelling, prompt writing, scene generation, voice-over integration, and video editing as part of one creative workflow.

It also represents an expansion of my creative portfolio into AI video creation alongside my existing interests in website design and graphic design.
