The project encompassed an area that was previously utilized as an industrial zone until the 1990s in Maltepe. A social housing-oriented settlement was designed within the city limits for this area. Upon examination of the area’s historical context, it was determined that the bostan texture, which existed alongside the industrial texture and developed around the streams that have survived to the present day, constituted a significant portion of the area’s character. In this context, the design was guided by the question of whether bostans could be used as a design idea that could solve the circular economy and food crisis in today’s world.
