Problem

Users of the bakery face long wait times and inconvenience when placing orders due to the absence of an app for online ordering and streamlined processes.

Goal

Create a user-friendly bakery app for convenient online ordering, reducing wait times, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Research

The research study involved conducting interviews and usability testing with 20 bakery customers to gather insights and feedback for the development of the Sweet Bites mobile app.

Findings

On average, about 85% of the customers experienced long wait times and delays in placing their bakery orders
Half of the customers had limited access to information about specials, discounts, or promotions offered by the bakery
Many customers shared that their biggest concern was the absence of an app, which made it challenging for them to track their order status or receive updates on their delivery or pick-up times, leading to confusion and inconvenience.

User Personas

Sarah

Sarah is a single, busy working mom who wants to easily order baked goods and food for her kids without the hassle of long lines and wait times. She finds it frustrating that she can’t access a full menu or place orders easily in person. With a new bakery app, she will be able to quickly place orders and schedule pick-ups, which saves her valuable time during her busy work and caregiving
Goals:
Advance her career in investment management
Provide a comfortable life and financial security for her family
Find balance between her demanding career and personal life
Frustrations:
“The lines can get super long, making it hard for me to stop by a pick up food before picking up my kids.”
“Once I stop by after work, most of the foods and baked goods are sold out.”
“When the bakery is busy, I have to wait for long times to get my food packaged.”

Alex

Alex is a busy 20 year old college student. He wants to quickly order food from the bakery and pick them up himself. He is frustrated because most times there are long wait times when he is trying grab a quick bite in between his classes. Also because of the limited payment methods, he is not able to get a proper meal throughout the day. He hopes that an app for the bakery can help solves these issues and better his experience. 
Goals:
Saving up money to move out and live independently
Graduating college with a computer science degree
Finding a well paying job in his field (computer science) after graduating 
Frustrations:
“I want quick snacks in between classes, but the long lines make it hard for me to order”
“I don’t always carry cash with me, so it would be nice if the bakery took online payments like Paypal or Venmo”

Solution

Sweet Bites Bakery app is designed to address the challenges faced by customers by providing a convenient and user-friendly platform for online ordering. With the app, customers can easily track their order status and receive real-time updates on their delivery or pick-up times. The intuitive interface and personalized notifications ensure a seamless experience, reducing confusion and improving overall convenience for customers. The app serves as a one-stop solution, enhancing the customer journey and elevating the bakery's service to new heights.
