This was extremely valuable. I’ll start executing on this. It's so much clearer now. Thank you."
That's what my (.......) ,said to me.
It was after I explained the concept of pointed posts.
Pointed posts do two things:
They have a point. Usually that's creating strong emotion or delivering applicable value. Sometimes it's selling your offer. Regardless, there's a specific point to the post, and that point is appealing to your audience in some way.
They get to the point quickly. No meandering around. No long introduction. No making people work hard to understand what the core message is.
A flat post will have an unappealing big idea, and it'll take way too long to get to that idea.
It'll look something like:
Long hook that doesn't create much interest.
4+ lines of introduction that aren't valuable at all.
The big idea, which is often cliche, self-centered, or not valuable in some other way.
Conclusion.
A pointed post will have an appealing big idea, and it'll get to that idea in just a couple of lines.
It'll look something like:
Short, descriptive, interesting hook in the first line with maybe one more line that leads into the body.
Get right into the big idea, which creates strong emotion or delivers actionable value. Explain it clearly and concisely.
Conclusion.
So, when you write, ask yourself:
"What's the big idea?" Make sure it's emotional, useful, or persuasive. Also try not to make it cliche. If someone has heard something 100 times, the point gets dull.
"How can I get to the point in a quick and interesting way?" Usually that means one or two lines of hooking, then getting right into it.
Do those, and your posts will be much more likely to pop (amazing pun, right?).
