Book Cover Design for A Deep Slumber

The author needed a compelling cover for a story centered around a magical flower that puts people into a deep sleep. The design had to be mystical, serene, and visually captivating, drawing readers in with a single glance while capturing the essence of the story.

As the cover designer, I led the visual direction and execution of the artwork, using Adobe Photoshop alongside AI tools to conceptualize and create the final piece. I was responsible for the imagery, layout, typography, and overall design.

To bring the story’s mystical flower to life, I used MidJourney to generate a surreal yet elegant flower image that could not be sourced through standard stock libraries. I built the composition around this focal point, using a soft, dreamlike color palette—lavenders, midnight blues, and warm glows—to evoke a sense of magic and calm. ChatGPT supported the creative process by helping refine thematic keywords and potential back cover blurb directions. The typography was carefully chosen to complement the visual tone, ensuring both legibility and harmony with the artwork.
