Try-before you buy AI, built into the retail product page.
Client: Google (via Smollan) · UI/UX Designer · Sept 2024 to Feb 2025 · Mobile, Tablet, Desktop · Live in 9countries across 33 retailers.
Overview
An interactive Pixel 9 demo built into retailers' product pages. Shoppers try Google AI features like Gemini, Add Me, Magic Editor and Super Res Zoom right in the browser, without owning the phone.
The demo live inside Reliance Digital's Pixel 9 product page, on tablet and mobile.
Goal
A phone sold on its AI can't prove that AI on a spec sheet. Shoppers scrolled photos and specs, then left without ever feeling what made the Pixel different. The goal was to make those features playable on the page itself, at the moment someone decides.
Gemini, running in-browser. Shoppers try image generation and more without owning the phone.
Challenges
Make a browser demo feel like a real phone across mobile, tablet and desktop. Keep every screen inside Google's design system. Hold up on live retail sites in different countries, on a fast timeline, handing off to developers without the design drifting.
One demo, every screen. Consistent across tablet, desktop and mobile on each retailer's own site.
Outcome
I led the design workstream and held the quality bar from concept to what went live.
Designed the micro-interactions and built the motion for the Gemini features. Held design accuracy through the build, correcting drift so the live product matched the design.
Kept every screen inside Google's design system, across all device sizes. Directed and reviewed a designer reporting to me on the project.
