Get Ready, Lakeshore! Emergency Preparedness Week is Just Around the Corner
Fire Chief encourages residents to prioritize preparedness for all emergencies.
May 2, 2023 – May 7th to May 13th is Emergency Preparedness Week, an annual event dedicated to making sure you and your family are prepared in the case of emergency. In Ontario, this year’s theme is “A Safe, Practiced, and Prepared Ontario”.
“Being prepared is crucial in ensuring a positive outcome during any type of emergency,” said Lakeshore Fire Chief Don Williamson. “From using applications like what3words to having a 72-hour kit in your home, preparedness can make all the difference.”
Similar to past years, the Lakeshore Fire Department will focus on educating citizens and ensuring they can take safety and preparedness into their own hands.
Residents are encouraged to re-evaluate and ensure they are prepared for any emergency, which are not exclusive to extreme weather.
Other emergencies include:
Cybersecurity
Power and utility outages
Heat waves
Fires
Lakeshore will continue to share emergency preparedness tips as well as resources and educational material through social media and online at: Lakeshore.ca/Prepare.
