Law Office of Sital J Shah: Website and E-Newsletter Campaign

Jaclyn Welsh

In 2019-2020, while interning as a paralegal at the Law Office of Sital J. Shah, Esq., I noticed that the law firm’s website was very outdated and in need of revamping. With the attorney’s permission, I revamped the entire website, which had originally been created using Wix. Using the law firm’s logo, I developed a brand color and font scheme to be used on the site, and later, in their e-newsletter. I changed the formatting of the entire website, snapped new photos, and selected new imagery. I also rewrote every word on every page, writing informative, engaging content aimed at our target client. The website stands today nearly the same as it was when I left the law firm four years ago and can be viewed at www.shahlegal.com. I also connected the law firm to Google My Business, which made it easier for potential clients to find and allowed me to track website performance through Google Analytics. After this revamped website was published, website traffic increased tremendously, and average session duration increased nearly 300%. This new website also bought in many new clients. The head attorney always asked first time clients how they discovered our law firm, and many stated that they simply did a Google search for real estate law firms in the area and viewed the websites of several law firms that came up in their search. The majority of these new clients mentioned that they liked our website, and decided to book an appointment with our law firm because they were impressed with Attorney Shah’s experience and background as well as the fact that we specialized not only in real estate law, but in other areas including estate planning, Wills and Trusts, DUIs, business law, and cyber crime.
Attorney Shah did not want to have a social media presence, so I thought of another way to maintain engagement with former clients and potential leads: a monthly e-newsletter on a relevant, interesting legal topic. Every month, I chose a topic and conducted research about that topic to obtain information from reliable sources for the written piece. Using Constant Contact, I wrote the entire newsletter and selected all of the visual aspects. I utilized the same color and font scheme that I used on the website to remain on-brand.
These monthly e-newsletters were remarkably successful; over the course of seven months, the number of contacts on our senders’ list increased tenfold, with many people requesting to be added to the list after hearing about our law firm’s fantastic newsletter. The newsletter was purposely sent out during the first week of every month, and within the month after sending out the newsletter every month, the law firm would have, on average, 10 to 15 appointments booked with both new and returning clients interested in discussing the topic of that month’s newsletter. The newsletter on Wills, which is attached, was by far the most successful, resulting in over two dozen appointments booked within one week of sending out the newsletter by clients interested in creating a Last Will and Testament and/or a Living Will.
