Shopify catalog change comparison — a self-directed tooling example.
I built a read-only comparison tool that shows supported field changes between a baseline product CSV and a proposed price update. Its report separates intended price changes from differences in fields such as product titles, vendor, status and SKU, with before/after values for review.
A synthetic 1,000-product rehearsal identified the eight deliberately introduced non-price changes, preserved both input files and passed seven declared checks. Unsupported inputs are rejected rather than guessed.
The illustration uses invented data. This tool does not access a live store, perform imports, establish actual variant structure or certify an import as safe. It is an original technical demonstration, with no customer outcome or sales claim.
