Episode 1
Rein was called into a meeting with his party, which is the hero's party, and was told that he had been fired for being weak and not pulling his weight in fights and that he should leave all his gear behind as he left. After being used as the luggage guy, they decided to discard him like a piece of garbage. And just like that, he had been kicked out of a party he had been to. He was outside, remembering all the times he had been insulted by the members of the party, and realized that they had never liked him. But he did not know what to do with himself and his life until a group of small children came up to him and asked him to do the thing. I know it is not the thing you are thinking about. The thing is for him to tame a bird and make it greet them, which he did, and on having a conversation with them, he found out that the people did not like the hero and his party, which was why they were always harsh to him whenever he came to get gear for the team. The children then praised him, saying that he was a good and noble person and that they wanted to be like him (meaning adventurers). At that moment, he decided to become an adventurer and live his life on his terms and not on the whims of others. To die and live his life on his own terms. On getting to the guild, he found out that he knew nothing about being an adventurer, so he registered, had the rules and regulations read to him because he was a complete noob of an adventurer, and had to take a trial so that the guild could be sure that he wasn't incompetent. Because a lot of adventures would die due to incompetence, and that would make the guild look bad. And the government could be involved, depending on which business wants the government involved. So they don't just want to look bad.
So here he was in the forest, on a quest to kill ten goblins and collect twenty medicinal herbs. Because in the line of work, adventures carry out both hunting and collection quests. So this trial is the bare minimum to be accepted into the guild and be an official adventurer. Monsters are ranked on a scale of F to S, with F being the lowest and S being the highest. Adventures are also graded the same way. On finding out that he was a Beast tamer, the guild official was scared of him going out on his own because people feel that his class Beast tamer is not strong enough to head out on their own, while some think it is downright useless. The beast tamer class is a class that allows the wielder to tamer beasts around them. Some bonds are permanent and last forever, while others last for a while. While connected, the tamer can communicate with the beast and gain information from the beast about what he has been doing for the hero and his ungrateful party, or ask the beast to do an activity for them, such as carrying goods.
So after using a squirrel to find the goblins, he hunted them down and felt pleased that even a weak-ass beast tamer could hunt F-ranked goblins. Now I have to say that that wasn't a high bar. I mean, weak hunting trash; you could almost see why he was kicked out. He then hears a scream, and as all protagonists (even weak ones) run towards the danger, On getting there, Rein finds a girl cornered by a Killer Tiger, which is a D-ranked monster that even veteran adventurers have to be very careful about. And like other protagonists, he jumps straight at the monster with nothing more than a dagger. This is the guy who was just kicked out of the hero's party for being weak and had chosen to present himself as an offering to the monster. The dagger that he uses to try and stab the tiger does not work and breaks, leaving him defenseless with no animal in sight to tame. The noble protagonist tells the girl to run when the cornered girl gets up and goes "With the last of strength" and drops one of the maddest spinning heel kicks seen on screen, defeating the tiger. Rein is shocked about who this girl is and how she has just defeated one of the toughest monsters around in a single move. There are beings in this world known as the ultimate species because they have inexplicable powers. Beings such as dragonoids, fairies, demigods, and others. Some are rarer than others, and it turns out that this girl is one of them. She is a cat spirit, and cat spirits are going extinct. The cat spirits, of which the girl is a member, can't use magic, but what classifies them as an ultimate species is their insane athletic abilities.
The girl sitting on the defeated tiger begins to mumble as the tiger disappears because, in this world, monsters disappear when defeated and leave behind a crystal shard. Rein runs and catches her before she can fall from the vanished tiger and hears her rumbles, only to hear that she is asking for food. She eats the rations that he brought with him on his hunting trip. They get talking, and she introduces herself as Kanade, a cat spirit, and goes on to say how she found life in her remote village boring and decided to travel the world, and that is how he came upon her in the forest and saved her life. Rein then starts telling her about himself and his being part of the hero's party until his eventual dismissal, and she gets angry for him and tells him that he is not useless. She felt a connection to him and believed that he and she could form a tamer bond. Rein is shocked because he never thought that he would be taming a cat spirit. They go on to make the bond, and Rein feels happy because he believes that with one of the ultimate species working for him, he has become stronger and won't be helpless again. After the closing sequences, Rein and Kanade are in a field where he proceeds to form many temporary bonds with the rabbits in the area, and this leads to Kanade throwing a fit. Turns out that the ability to form more than one temporary bond is rare, and the fact that he is bonded to her means that he should not be able to still bond with other beasts. Rein goes on to mention that where he comes from isn't anything special. And Kanade proceeds to throw a fit.
