Godna: Pierced into Identities Role: Video Editor Date: July 2025
I served as the video editor for both the trailer and the full-length documentary Godna: Pierced into Identities, created by the Shodhvahini Media Collective. The documentary delves into the ancient tattoo art traditions of the Baiga and Badi communities in India, portraying how these markings are deeply intertwined with cultural identity and heritage.
My editorial contributions included:
Shaping the full narrative of the documentary, weaving interviews, cultural visuals, and storytelling into a coherent, impactful film.
Crafting the trailer to succinctly capture the film’s powerful themes and visual richness, while enticing audiences to engage with the full story.
Ensuring a respectful and authentic portrayal of indigenous tattoo heritage through careful pacing, shot selection, and sound design.
Collaborating closely with the creative team to maintain the documentary’s emotional depth and cultural sensitivity.
This project underscored my ability to manage long-form documentary editing alongside promotional content, balancing artistic vision with cultural integrity.
