I had the opportunity to work on the development of Workcity Africa, a co-working facility located in Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria. The main objective of the project was to create a website that would attract freelancers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners looking for a modern and professional workspace.

Objective and Goals

The main objective of the workcity.io website was to provide a platform that would attract potential clients to the co-working facility. The goals of the website were to:
Showcase the modern and professional workspace available at Workcity.
Provide information about the various services offered, including virtual office plans, co-working spaces, and podcast studios.
Make it easy for potential clients to inquire about membership and schedule tours.
Optimize the website for mobile responsiveness.
Increase traffic and inquiries from potential clients.

Challenges Faced

During the development process, I faced two main challenges:
Unprofessional website design: The existing website did not reflect the modern and professional image that Workcity wanted to portray. The design was outdated and did not effectively showcase the facilities and services available.
Lack of mobile responsiveness: The website was not optimized for mobile devices, which was essential considering the increasing use of smartphones and tablets for browsing.

Overcoming the Challenges

To overcome these challenges, I took the following steps:
Design process: I started by creating wireframes and prototypes to ensure that the new website would be easy to navigate and that all necessary content and features were included. This allowed me to align the design with Workcity's vision and requirements.
Collaborative decision-making: I worked closely with the founder of Workcity to choose the right colors, fonts, and imagery that would appeal to their target audience. This collaborative approach ensured that the new website would accurately reflect the brand identity of Workcity.
Responsive design: Once the design was finalized, I built the new website using responsive design techniques. This ensured that the website would look great on all devices, including desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones. The website automatically adjusts its layout and content based on the screen size, providing an optimal user experience.
Lead capture system: I integrated a lead capture system to make it easy for potential clients to schedule tours and inquire about membership. This included adding a contact form and implementing automated email notifications to ensure prompt responses.
Training the IT team: As part of the project, I provided training to the IT team of Workcity on running updates and backups. This empowered them to manage the website and perform maintenance operations independently.

Impact and Results

The development of workcity.io was a successful project that addressed the challenges faced by the company. By implementing a responsive design, improving the website's aesthetics, and enhancing the user experience, the new website has attracted more clients to Workcity.
