INTRODUCTION
In this Project, we will learn about Wi-Fi Controlled LED using ESP8266 and Arduino. Also, how to control an LED connected to the Digital I/O Pin of the Arduino over Wi-Fi Network using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module.
Smart lighting is a lighting technology designed for energy efficiency, convenience and security. This may include high efficiency fixtures and automated controls that make adjustments based on conditions such as occupancy or daylight availability. Lighting is the deliberate application of light to achieve some aesthetic or practical effect (e.g. illumination of a security breach). It includes task lighting, accent lighting, and general lighting.
The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is an interesting addition to the makers and hobbyists’ community as it allows us to integrate Wi-Fi and Internet into our DIY Projects. IoT or Internet of Things is one such area which can be implemented using a variety of sensors connected to a Microcontroller like Arduino and ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module to access the sensor data from anywhere in the World.
The idea behind the project is quite simple. Connect an LED to the Arduino Board. This LED must be connected over Wi-Fi i.e., within a local network through a Smart Phone or a Laptop.
FEASIBLITY
➢ Wi-Fi LED control offers you the convenience of controlling you LED tapes
through a smartphone via an app and offers you multizone functionality too.
➢ Wi-Fi also provides you with flexibility in control without being limited by space, when compared with wired control systems. This will offer you the convenience that you deserve.
➢ You will also be able to save on costs, such as installation labor and materials. This is because you do not need a wiring system. Installation of Wi-Fi control is super easy and effective.
➢ Another advantage of Wi-Fi control is that it offers a scalable control system.
➢ Benefits :
▪ Lower energy use
▪ Longer life span
▪ Increased Security
▪ Easy-to-use light customization
▪ Fun settings and uses
PROJECT FEATURES
• COST EFFECIENCY
Reduce need of wiring system, labor and material.
• MANAGEMENT
Management is easy as it reduces the need for manpower, wall switches are
reduced to fault management will be easy to determine and encounter.
• EFECIENCY
It provides flexibility in control as you control them from anywhere in the
house.
• RISK AND UNCERTAININTY
It will be less useful if there is a frequent internet breakage.
• LIMITATIONS
It is difficult for elderly people to use it.
It doesn’t have International compatibility standards.
TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES USED
• HARDWARE
1. Wi-Fi Node MCU ESP8266
2. Standard USB cable to connect Node MCU
3. 4 Channel Relay Module (5V)
4. Jumper wires (Female to Female)
5. LED Light
6. Wires
7. AC 22v/120v home appliances or 9v Hi-Walt Battery
• SOFTWARE
1. Arduino Software
2. Blynk App
CONCLUSION
• A simple project called Wi-Fi Controlled LED using ESP8266 and Arduino is
designed here where an LED connected to Arduino is controlled over Wi-Fi
(within the same network).
