Vinrella is a Hammonds family business that sells a unique novelty product, the Umbrella in a Bottle. Our umbrellas come in bottle-shaped containers that can be printed with patterns or a wine label, playing on the idea of a wine bottle. Importantly, these umbrellas are functional too! Their hard outer case keeps all of the raindrops sealed up, making them super useful.

I have been the creative director of Vinrella since it’s start in 2012, and had a key role in developing the brand, including the logo and many of the best-selling pattern designs.

Vinrella wanted a modern logo that conveyed a sleek, high-fashion look. Along with a bold condensed typeface, I created a peacock feather mark that tells a story about the brand without being literal. A peacock's plume of feathers is a bold display of beauty, which is what Vinrella wants to achieve with their beautiful designs.

Some of Vinrella's best-sellers are the "Tropical Paradise" umbrella and the "Spot on" dog-lovers design. Tropical Paradise was hand-painted in watercolor and printed on both the bottle and umbrella.

I used a Shopify template to create an easy-to-use online shop for the company and customized it to fit the brand style. Shoppers can quickly shop by design category such as animal prints, geometric patterns, or wine label designs.

Raindrop shaped tags and simple graphics clarify what the product is, as it's an unfamiliar shape when someone first sees it. The umbrella inside of the bottle is often a surprise, so the tag seeks to clear up any confusion.
