Jackson, TN – West TN PBS Manager of Education and Community Engagement, Jennifer Medford, visited Decatur County and Parsons Head Starts with their Reading Ranger Rocky “T” in lieu of facilitating early reading literacy.

Medford teamed up with the children to read them a story and show the importance of reading. However, Rocky “T”, West TN PBS’ reading ranger stole the spotlight as he added an additional excitement and passion for books. Children gathered around the mascot with a newfound curiosity for the animation and enthusiasm that storytelling brings.

Early literacy is an important skill for children to learn as it aids their future educational efforts. West TN PBS was able to donate 25 books for each student and a classroom book for each center. The collaboration of Educator Jennifer Medford and Mascot Rocky “T” represents their dedication for cultivating a love for reading at a young age.

West TN PBS has various programming including the PBS Learning Media for free educational resources for children grades PreK-12 on channel 11.1. Learning topics are made to develop early literacy and teach a variety of helpful topics at home.
