Low Poly Game Art Curriculum Development

At OCAD University, I developed and delivered the curriculum for a course titled Low Poly Game Art. This course was designed to teach primarily first- and second-year students the fundamentals of creating 3D assets for games, focusing on both technical skills and creative expression.

I designed a comprehensive syllabus that covered topics such as:

Low poly modelling techniques using Blender.

Applications of 3D assets in game engines, particularly Godot Engine.

Texturing workflows to optimize assets for real-time rendering.

Game asset creation pipelines tailored to student goals and projects.

Effective time management and creative problem-solving for game development.

To ensure student engagement and accessibility, I encouraged learners to choose their preferred 3D modelling tools while guiding them through deadlines and project expectations. Assignments were structured to challenge students’ creativity while teaching practical, industry-relevant skills.

Additionally, I evaluated student work, provided actionable feedback, and managed course content through Canvas, the Learning Management System. This role involved making complex technical concepts accessible to diverse learners and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

The course not only equipped students with the technical knowledge required for game art, but also empowered them to think critically and develop unique, high-quality assets for their portfolios.

Results: This project exemplifies my ability to design and deliver educational content, manage student progress effectively, and adapt technical knowledge into engaging learning experiences. It highlights my skills in teaching, curriculum development, and creative problem-solving.
