Power BI Dashboard for Financial Insights

Designed and built a Financial reporting dashboard in Power BI, Snowflake, and dbt for a major Telco. Due to a recent upgrade of underlying software combined with a move towards automated reporting over manual journals, a new solution was needed that allowed the Finance team to prepare journals and also perform in-depth analysis on revenue. I built a solution based on a daily feed of sales data, and combined with network data, calculates many measures such as earned and unearned revenue; revenue gaps due to missing data; and projected revenue over the next 6 months. Technically the solution is built on dbt to create a star schema in Snowflake, with logic in SQL to calculate revenue. Power BI is used to visualise both revenue numbers, which are posted into SAP, and to show discrepancies between the 3 data feeds. Overall this solution provides vastly improved visibility over the previous solution and automates many of the manual steps previously required, as well as providing more accurate revenue, for example taking into account leap years.
